Homemade Paleo Ghee

Materials

  • 1 lb Grassland Grass Fed salted

Instructions

  • Slice the butter into small cubes and place in a pot on low heat.
  • Bring the melted butter to a simmer. After a few minutes, a foam will form on top of the butter. Skim off the foam with a spoon. You'll need to repeat this a few times.
  • Continue cooking the ghee on low for another 20-25 minutes. You will see the ghee separated into three layers.The middle layer will be translucent and smell fragrant. You should also start to see some milk solids at the bottom of the pan.
  • Once the ghee is done, turn off the heat. Strain the ghee through a cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a glass storage container. This recipe creates 2 cups of ghee.
