Course: Appetizer
Keyword: All Things Baking, Holiday Favorites

Materials

  • 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough
  • ½ cup Grassland butter, melted.
  • Egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon water)
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 3 pepperoni sticks
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 tbsp chopped basil
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut mozzarella sticks into 1” pieces, you’ll need 33 to match the dough, and set aside.
  • On a floured surface, divide pizza dough in half. Stretch each piece of dough into a long rectangle, then cut dough into 2” squares, you’ll need 33.
  • Wrap 2” dough pieces around each piece of mozzarella, forming a tightly sealed ball. Place balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree. The dough pieces should be touching.
  • Brush egg wash on dough balls and put into the oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden and fragrant.
  • While that is baking, cut your pepperoni sticks into 1’ pieces to use as Christmas ornaments. Set aside. Whisk together melted butter, Parmesan and herbs. Once removed from the oven, brush on the baked tree as it sets. Add your Pepperoni Christmas ornaments.
  • Garnish with basil leaves. Serve warm with marinara for dipping.
