Brown Butter Pears

Brown buttery sweetness with a hint of cinnamon spice.

Materials

  • 3 firm ripe Bartlett pears
  • 2 tablespoons of salted Grassland Butter
  • 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
  • A pinch of cinnamon-to-taste
  • 1 Thyme sprig
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  • Combine peeled and sliced pears with brown sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl; gently toss to coat fruit.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; add thyme sprigs. Cook for a minute, constantly stirring until butter just starts to brown.
  • Remove thyme sprigs and discard.
  • Add coated pear slices to the pan with the brown butter and continue to stir until fruit is softened and slightly caramelized, approx. 20 minutes.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon over top, serve over hot waffles, pancakes or ice cream.
